FGNPC MANAGEMENT SITE INSPECTION AT THE NEW ABEOKUTA SUBSTATION IN OGUN STATE

FGNPC Management carried out a site inspection at the New Abeokuta Substation in Ogun State, a critical project site under Phase One of the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI).

The inspection provided an opportunity to assess the progress of ongoing upgrade works, which will transform the existing 132/33kV facility into a modern 330/132/33kV substation, significantly strengthening transmission capacity and grid reliability in Ogun State and surrounding regions.

Once completed, the upgraded substation is expected to unlock approximately 480MW of additional transmission capacity, supporting industrial clusters, businesses, and residential communities across the Ogun industrial corridor.

Delivered by the FGN Power Company in partnership with global engineering leader Siemens Energy, the Presidential Power Initiative is designed to deliver an additional 4,000MW of transmission capacity within the next three years, ensuring that generated electricity can be efficiently transmitted to homes, businesses, and industries across Nigeria.

Through the Presidential Power Initiative, the Federal Government remains committed to strengthening Nigeria’s power infrastructure and delivering sustainable improvements across the electricity value chain.
